Good News

Trayton had his upper GI today and they confirmed that he just has a bad case of reflux and nothing more. His stomach area and colon look great but the minute the dye went down you could see it splashed right back up. He is on zantac to help settle it down and help with the pain and he will eventually grow out of it. We are very happy with the news that it is nothing more serious oh and on another good note he is almost 10 pounds... chunky monkey!!

Grandma and Grandpa Arrived

Saturday we picked up Grandma and Grandpa (Dave and Prudy) Mitchell from the airport. They were so excited to see there grandson for the first time and he was wide awake and happy to see them as well. As you can see from the pictures he immediately clung to grandma and they have been hanging out ever since. Grandpa can't stop looking at him but won't hold him because he said his time will come when he is 4 or 5 and will put him to work!! haha Not only are they here to visit they are up to their necks in home improvement work. They have officially ripped up the basement bathroom and are putting in all new appliances, flooring, and repainting. It makes me tired just watching them!! Pictures to come later when I can post a before and after.

Poor lil dude

So we have had some rough days and nights lately and after trying everything that we could think of we decided to call the doctor. Tray has been sooo fussy and miserable lately and not sleeping at all at night. Every time he eats or toots or poops he is just a crying mess. The doctor definitely said he has acid reflux. All signs point to it from the way he acts and it's hereditary. Mitch gets heart burn all the time so that made the case. He would also eat for 30 to 40 minutes at a time and has been gaining weight rapidly but that is because the sucking makes him feel better but it is actually making him worse because it just causes more reflux. We are trying some rice cereal for 2 days and if he is screaming at night uncontrollably then he can get a shot of mylanta. I also have to limit feedings to 10 mins then a burp then 10 more mins and that's it for as long as i can hold him off to let him get a chance to digest.... the first round didn't go too well- he is a starving little chunky monkey!! If by Friday that doesn't seem to be working then he has to have an Upper GI to check him out and make sure he for sure has acid reflux. Once that confirms it then he will be put on antibiotics until it seems to go away. Most babies it only lasts no later than 12 to 18months so fingers crossed that we can take care of it and it doesn't get worse. The first picture was when Mitch tried to calm him down so he put him in the swing and gushed how cute he was so he took some pictures... a minute later he was screaming!! haha The second is just after a crying spell and as you can see from his face he was very tired and grumpy... but still adorable!

Happy Easter

So last night was our first really bad night since he was born and he will be 4 weeks old on Tuesday so I guess I can't complain too much but with no sleep and still some fussiness this morning we were unable to make it to church today... hope everyone prayed for us! But we still put on his Easter outfit and as you can see from the pictures he was not very happy! I even put up all the good ones. Once the morning past and he calmed down we were able to get out of the house and go to an Easter brunch at the Crowne Plaza hotel and it was worth every penny. Mitch had gone there a few years ago and took Ray and I today and it was the largest and prettiest buffet I have ever seen and the food was great. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

2 weeks old

Mitch and I went to the doctors for his 2 week checkup and he was amazed at how well he was growing. When we left the hospital Tray weighed 6lbs12ounces but at his 2 week checkup he was 7lbs14ounces. He also said his sensory motor skills were that of a 2 month old- he is a mover and a shaker! It is amazing to see how much he has filled out just in two weeks. He looks more and more like his dad everyday especially when you look at these pictures. Cross eyed like his mom in the first one!!

1 week old

Surprisingly we actually have a little bit of a system going even though our little peanut is only 7 days old. Mitch will come home from work and take over with diaper changes and holding him while I will try and tidy up the mess we made during the day. At night he sleeps for 3 hours then wakes up so we do a diaper change, feed, burp, then back to bed. Mitch gets up for the morning feeding that is usually between 6 or 7 and gives him a bottle and they hang out all morning until he has to leave for work. I must say it has been a great first week and I am feeling a little bit spoiled!

How Ironic

So my sister Rachel was in Ireland last summer for a study abroad program. While she was there I surprised her and visited her for a whole week. We traveled all over together and had a blast experiencing the Irish culture. When she got back to the US she brought me a present... a little Ireland onesie. She thought it was too cute to not buy even though she knew we weren't planning on getting pregnant for a few more months. Well.... I was actually pregnant when she gave it to me but didn't find out for a week later. Auntie Ray bought Tray his first outfit from Ireland and he was born on St. Patty's Day. It was ment to be!

St. Patty's Day 2009

At 3:03pm on March 17,2009 Trayton Cole Mitchell was born. We went into the hospital the night before and they started to thin out my cervix but gave me a sleeping pill since nothing was going to happen until the next morning. At 6am the doctor came in and didn't even turn on the lights and broke my water... Mitch was still sleeping! They started inducing with Pitocin at 9am. I didn't get the epidural right away which was a mistake because I was in lots of pain for almost 2 hours but once I got the epidural life was fabulous! Mitch decided to just wait till the pain was over before he came over to talk to me... I don't blame him- I was mean! At noon I was dialated to a 3 and by 1:30 I was an 8. I started pushing at 2:15 and Tray was born at 3:03. Everything went great and Mitch was a wonderful coach and was so helpful. The doctor even let me reach down once his shoulders were out and pull him out and up onto my chest which was such an amazing experience we were all in tears... Tray included!! Here are some hospital pics...
